Brent graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 1986 with an engineering degree. He served in the US Air Force as a decorated F-15 pilot flying combat missions during Operation Desert Storm. Upon completion of his service, Brent entered private business working for Rafael Advanced Defense Systems and Elbit Systems in defense contracting, and Hewlett Packard Company in business management.
In 1998, Brent, along with his partners, reconstituted their then 70 year old construction business, turning it into one of the premier residential construction businesses in the Atlanta market. Brent served as the managing partner, growing the contracting business to $20 million in annual sales within six years. Brent and his partners decide to expand into large scale development. He was one of the founding partners for Montaluce, a 400 acre, premier, second home real estate development that revolved around the food and wine culture. Serving as the president, Brent managed a $26 million acquisition and development budget, and more than $10 million in additional construction projects. He also led transition from a construction focus to operating an ongoing resort operation. Brent built his management team to establish vineyard, winery, restaurant, water, and sewer operations.
Brent left the family general contracting business to create a new business focused solely on development. Market District Development is focusing on infill development, mixed-use, and related opportunities. MDD is currently developing a $60M mixed-use project in the Historic Crabapple District of Milton, Georgia, as well as a $25M mixed-use development in downtown Alpharetta, Georgia.
